Vaultify Zero-Knowledge Cryptographic Architecture
An in-depth technical overview of Vaultify client-side encryption, key derivation, authenticated ciphertext validation, and zero-knowledge threat modeling.
1. Client-Side Cryptographic Primitives
Vaultify is built from the ground up on the principle of Zero-Knowledge encryption. All sensitive data is encrypted on your local client before it ever touches the network. Even in the theoretical scenario of complete server infrastructure compromise, an adversary obtains only mathematically uncrackable ciphertext.
2. Key Derivation with PBKDF2 (600,000 Iterations)
Your master encryption key is derived using PBKDF2 (Password-Based Key Derivation Function 2) with HMAC-SHA-256 and 600,000 iterations, exceeding OWASP minimum recommendations to prevent GPU-accelerated brute-force attacks.
3. Authenticated Encryption with AES-GCM-256
Payloads are encrypted using AES-256 in Galois/Counter Mode (GCM), providing both confidentiality and cryptographic integrity verification (AEAD) with unique 96-bit initialization vectors (IVs) generated per encryption operation.
4. Ephemeral Key Handling
Decrypted keys exist solely within browser memory while actively needed and are never written to disk, local storage, or server logs.
